CIM DATABASE makes product changes more controllable
Engineering Change Management significantly extended in release 2.9.6
Bremen, 2th May 2007 – Technical modifications, so called Engineering Changes, do have a significant effect on a product’s quality, costs and time to market. Particularly close to or after product ramp-up such changes mean extensive risks. With CIM DATABASE 2.9.6 CONTACT Software meets these concerns and expands its standard application for Engineering Change Management considerably. Instead of paper based processes companies can build up a digital change management process with all involved departments continuously supported – from early stages of product creation to manufacturing and beyond. The advantages result from transparent documentation and communication of every change and its associated data. Test and approval methods can be handled in parallel and with considerable acceleration. Changes can be systematically planned, evaluated and conducted by the person or team in charge. In summary, there is great potential for reducing costs, minimizing errors and risks as well as for a faster “time to market”.
Changes are usually organized through change requests, orders and notifications. CIM DATABASE combines these elements in a joint Workflow with all affected parts, models and documents. Based on this context it manages the procedures of approving and releasing of conducted Engineering Changes. At the same time a complete logging documents responsibility and date of action for validation and approval. The PDM/PLM-system provides various templates, which can be adopted in a very flexible way. In summary companies get a solution at hand to guide, streamline and accelerate its Engineering Change processes.
